Christians Celebrate Easter Across Pakistan and the World

Islamabad: Easter is being celebrated with great religious fervor and reverence across Pakistan and around the world today. In Pakistan, the Christian community marked the occasion with pre-dawn candlelight processions, followed by special services in churches nationwide. Worshippers are offering prayers for peace, national stability, and interfaith harmony, amid heightened security around religious sites.

Easter celebrations began with traditional rituals, including candlelight vigils and special prayers held in churches. Faithful gathered to pray for the country’s unity and prosperity.

President Asif Ali Zardari extended warm Easter greetings to Christians in Pakistan and worldwide. He reaffirmed that the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees minority rights and appreciated the Christian community’s valuable contributions to the nation’s development. He reiterated his commitment to the progress and empowerment of all minority communities in the country.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also conveyed his best wishes, stating that Easter reminds the world of Jesus Christ’s sacred teachings of mercy, love, and humility. He expressed confidence in the Christian community’s continued role in building a peaceful and united Pakistan.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi described Easter as a celebration of hope and harmony, praising the community for its historical role in the Pakistan Movement and ongoing contributions to national progress. He emphasized the importance of promoting unity, love, and goodwill in society.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif joined in the nationwide greetings, wishing joy and blessings to Christian citizens. She noted that Easter carries a powerful message of hope, love, and togetherness, and underscored the significance of every festival in strengthening social harmony.
